The Snap Shot
If you have never enrolled a child in a soccer program, here is your quick primer. Most soccer organizations are run by volunteers from the local community, in cooperation with, but not managed by, your participating towns(s). Children can participate as a player on an in-town team(less competitive in general) or in a travel team (more competitive in general).
Listed here are brief descriptions for all our programs. If after reviewing, you still have questions, check out our Contacts page. We have assigned age directors for all our divisions who can assist you in better understanding what CCYS is about. Detailed program descriptions are listed below. InTown (Pre-K to Grade 6)
Travel (Grade 3 to 12 Under 9 to Under 18)
Referee Development (Age 12 or older)
InTown Program
The InTown program serves players who are 5 years of age by the end of the first year of play through Grade 6. Games are held weekly on Saturdays with practices for Kindergarten through Grade 6 once per week. In-Town is usually where most players start. Our volunteer coaches are trained to understand the mindset of players and to have fun while teaching them the game of soccer. Our program is based on the development of the player and supports the learning of the social and skilled aspects of the game. Equal playing time during games and the playing of all positions is the policy of the club.
InTown players may move onto our travel program starting in the third grade.
Travel Program
The Travel program plays in the Boston Area Youth Soccer Leagues (BAYS) which involves games played with such town as Acton, Lexington, Sudbury, Newton and are generally played on Saturdays and Sunday with two practices per week. Teams are formed based upon age groups which are established and maintained by Mass Youth Soccer, our parent organization. Fees vary, and are published during the registration process. Uniforms are ordered separately. The spring and fall seasons run 10 weeks with play on holiday weekends. The spring season starts in early April and the fall season begins in early September.
Referee Development
We also have a referee development program where players who desire to officiate our games may obtain a referee certificate outside our club and then be assigned games. Our most experienced referees can also be chosen to assist in the on-field training of the newest referees.
