CCYS is offering a winter futsal program that was started in winter 2017. The programs goal is to provide a casual, fun venue for players to play a little futsal this winter. Futsal is the only form of indoor soccer endorsed by FIFA. It is a 5 v 5 small-sided game played on a hard surfaced, basketball sized court with a smaller, heavier low bounce ball. Futsal is played with touchline boundaries and without walls. It's popular in countries like Brazil and Argentina that are pretty good at soccer.
Around the world, soccer players play futsal to refine and maintain their control skills and touch. It's popular in countries like Brazil and Argentina that are pretty good at soccer. It is superior to walled soccer in terms of developing better skills and technique. CCYS Pick-Up Futsal is a great way to for soccer players to further develop their foot skills over the winter months.
Futsal sessions will be led by CCYS professional coaches.
The futsal program is coed and is open for boys and girls in grades 1-8. Sessions will be held on Friday nights at Sanborn, and late Sunday afternoons at the Carlisle gym
The schedule is:
- Fridays: Grades 1- 4 from 5 - 6pm. Grades 5 - 8 from 6 - 7pm. Last session is Friday, March 8.
- Sundays: Grades 1 - 4 from 4 - 5pm. Grades 5 - 8 from 5 - 6pm. Last session is Sunday, March 17.
There will be no Futsal on February 3, 17 & 22 & March 15.
For all sessions: Depending on numbers, we will typically have two games: One game will be less intense, focused on fun, and the other will be more competitive. We will generally let players self-select which game they wish to participate in. At Carlisle, the less-competitive game will be near the entrance, while the more competitive game will occur on the back part of the gym.
This program is open for everyone. Players who play on a futsal team are welcome to join the program, but are reminded that these sessions are focused more on fun than on maximum intensity!
The Futsal Season runs from Friday, January 4 to Sunday, March 17. We will have sessions on either side of February vacation. The program costs $125. Players can come on Fridays, Sundays, or both. Come join us!
